Yahoo Meme is launched

http://meme.yahoo.com/

Yahoo Inc. is introducing a microblogging service that mimics Twitter. This invitation only service is named "Meme" and allow users to set up their Meme account with an avatar and a brief bio. This service was originally only offered in Spanish or Portuguese but it looks like Yahoo is ready to try this out on their English speaking subscribers.

After filling out an invitation request, Yahoo users can enter text, images, videos and music and share it with their friends. They can then search other Meme users' public accounts, have their entries appear in your stream and repost others' entries, much like Twitter. Or is it just another Twitter's clone?

Yahoo is trying to catch the Twitter wave, but this latest attempt is less than exciting. Several weeks ago, Yahoo tried to tell you what your Twitter mojo by analyzing your tweets with a simplistic tool that basically revealed nothing earth shattering. Just another in a long line of useless gadgets.

Will Meme fail? It's only in beta testing now so that's still to be seen. From the looks of it, it's a safe bet that it may never make it out of test mode. It is just not competition for Twitter at all.

Good Luck Yahoo!
