The Social Media Marketing Campaign Checklist

By Mike Stiles

If you’re prepping a social media marketing campaign, it’d sure be handy to have a checklist of everything you have to consider while you’re still in the planning phase wouldn’t it? But where in the world would one find such a checklist? Right here, of course.

  • I’ve got a plan. It will be clear, step-by-step, everyone will know what they’re supposed to do and we’ll have all kinds of contingency plans.
  • I’ve made sure this is going to be really, really good. It won’t be like everybody else’s campaigns. It’s going to have lots of personality and be fun. I’m not going to be afraid to try something wild.
  • I’ve made sure this is going to be easy for the user to engage with. They hate jumping through hoops. This whole thing has to be about them.
  • I’ve made sure this campaign is thoroughly branded with our image, but that we’re not going to come across as selling our wares. It’s going to be “we just want to meet you and have some fun.”
  • I’ve made sure this campaign is media-driven, meaning videos, or at least cool images. Or maybe even something interactive like a game!
  • I’ve determined whether this is going to be a Facebook or Twitter or YouTube campaign. I’m smart enough to know you have to craft the campaign depending on which social vehicle you’re going to use to drive it.
  • I’ve decided what I want this social media marketing campaign to accomplish, I know what metrics will tell me whether or not I’m successful at it, and I’ve put the means to get those metrics in place.
  • I’ve made sure I’ve got something there that will really draw them in, something that’s of real value to them. This is going to not only make it easier to get engagement, it’s going to help our campaign spread faster.
  • I’ve made sure that everyone inside our company has been clued in to what’s going on. I definitely don’t need them flooding the campaign with fake raves, but I need everyone to be onboard and know that this is a big deal.
  • I’ve made sure that once the campaign launches, users will consistently be interacting with real humans who listen and respond to them, no matter what they’re saying. They’re going to trust us, because we’re going to shoot straight with them.
  • I know exactly what I want users to do. I’ve made it really clear, really simple, and even Andy Dick on a bad night could make sense of it.

Now, speaking of calls to action, get out there and show us all something we haven’t seen from a brand before so that you can become the stuff of social media marketing campaign legend.
